Nintendo 64DD was an add-on for the Nintendo 64 released by Nintendo in 1999. The add-on was short lived, and didn't have many games for it. It was discontinued in early 2001.

Game Reason for cancellation

Super Mario 64 2

The game was canceled possibly due to the lack of progress.

Mother64 This game was cancelled because of the lack of progress and the N64DD did not last long.
Banjo-Koozie 2

The game was canceled possibly due to the lack of progress. It also later got released as a cartidge game on the regular N64 as Banjo-Tooie.

Fire Emblem 64

Scrapped; some elements of the plot were later used on the first Fire Emblem for Game Boy Advance, Fire Emblem: Fūin no Tsurugi. Also cancelled due to poor sales of the console.

Final Fantasy VII

Yes there was plans for an Nintendo 64 DD version of Final Fantasy VII and was in development, but cancelled for reasons why the other games that were going to be released on the Nintendo 64 DD. It was later ported to the PlayStation 1.

Mario Artist series This would be a parts of the squeal to Mario Paint for the SNES. But sadly never made it. Probably because the N64DD did not go well. There are a few of the Mario Artist games that were released for the N64DD but there were several that were cancelled
Famicom Classics Vol. 1

Cancelled due to poor sales of the add on. It was probably going to be a game collection of Famicom games. A volume 2 was never planed.

Pokemon 64

Cancelled due to poor sales of the add on.

Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards

Cancelled due to poor sales of the add on. This later became a cartridge game with the same name.

Trivia[]

The Nintendo 64DD had only 9 released games on the add-on. Even the Virtual Boy had more games and the Virtual Boy only had 32 games released.
