Nintendo Play Station was a cartridge- and CD-based videogame console, which Nintendo wanted to make together with Sony. But when Nintendo and Philips announced during the 1991 Consumer Electronics Show that they would make a CD-based console, Sony soon gave up the project.
By 1993, Sony had started production of their own console, competing against Nintnedo.[1]
